Breaking Down Borders Africa Youth Summit Workshops

Building Our Legacy

The theme for the next summit is a call to action to African youth to start and continue taking steps and making strides in creating an Africa they imagine for themselves that can also be bequeathed to future generations. The theme is inspired by Nelson Mandela’s Centenary’s call to Action to BE THE LEGACY.

In light of the theme, the Summit will thus see activities geared towards action, celebrating action and encouraging action through its programme. This will further inform the nature and calibre of speakers who take to the podiums of the Summit and the partners who become and those who continue being key stakeholders of the Summit.

The Annual Breaking Down Borders Africa Youth Summit will once bring together the most respected leaders from business, the civic space, academia and the creative industry with a youth delegation who are trailblazers in their own rights. This coming together of young leaders from across the continent will foster lasting and impactful networking and collaborations.

The summit programme is centred around dialogue and engagement on advancing youth-led development on the continent.

Host Province – Gauteng

The Summit is set to return to Gauteng Province, the economic and cultural hub of South Africa. Gauteng Province is home to a quarter of the South African population at more than 13 million people. The province is a migrant region, with two major cities – Tshwane and Johannesburg. It is here where young people have created lives, formed new identities and relations not just with the city but with the continent and the world at large. Gauteng is home to Africans from all corners of the continent and diaspora. Gauteng is the quintessential melting pot, where diversity is the order of the day.
